Jordan Brooks has an ABRSM scholarship at the Royal College of Music. He studies under Radu Blidar and plays a Storioni violin. Jordan started lessons aged seven at the Beau Soleil Music Centre in South Africa and from age 11 performed as soloist with local orchestras in Cape Town including the Cape Town Philharmonic. He won prizes at many national competitions and took first prize in the National Youth Music Competition in 2019. He regularly gave recitals at renowned Cape Town venues.
Jordan became concertmaster of the Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and an occasional member of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2018 he toured Europe with the MIAGI orchestra, playing in venues such as the Elbphilharmonie and the Concertgebouw.
In 2020 Jordan won a Scholarship to Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester to study with Jan Repko. During two years in the UK he played in the Stoller Hall, St James’s Piccadilly and St Martin’s in the Fields and performed the Korngold Violin Concerto at Bridgewater Hall with Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra. Back in Cape Town he performed the Sibelius concerto with the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra.
Jordan is an active chamber musician, a regular participant at Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival. In 2021 he took part in the Quatro Corde festival in Italy. He has been involved with projects with the Manchester Collective and The Barret Duo School in Norway and masterclasses with the Emerson Quartet.
In 2023 Jordan performed a series of recitals around Cape Town with pianist Tertia Visser. He travelled to China for the Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians where he won the prize for the best Chinese work and went on to perform further concerts in Zhuhai.
Most recently Jordan won first prize at the Royal Overseas League Strings Competition and first prize for the Overseas round of the competition, enabling him to make his Wigmore Hall debut at the Grand Finale in June. This autumn Jordan participates in the Enescu International Violin Competition in Romania.
